DONALD Trump, United States president-elect, has said in an interview broadcast Sunday, November 13, that he will not take the $400,000 salary that comes with his job as president job.

“I’m not going to take the salary. I’m not taking it,” he told CBS’s “60 minutes,” confirming a promise he made in a campaign video in September.

“I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year,” he said.

The Republican Party president-elect also on Sunday, November 13, made the first top appointments of his new administration, naming Reince Priebus as his White House chief and Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and senior counsellor.

“I am thrilled to have my very successful team continue with me in leading our country,” Trump said in a statement.

“Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to a historic victory. Now I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again.”
