THE Lagos State chapter of Buhari Youth Organisation on Wednesday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Buhari’s election was one of the highpoints of the 53rd Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS held in Lome, Togo Capital.

Mr Abdulwaheed Odunuga, the state Coordinator and Mr Adekunle Aderibigbe, the General Secretary of BYO, said in a statement in Lagos.

“Emergence of President Buhari justifies the good intents that he meant and worked for while serving Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa.

“Contrary to what illusion that his critics portray, the Czar of anti-corruption was elected at the 53rd Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS that was held at the capital of Togo, Lome.

“This came, though he did not campaign nor offer himself for the post.

“The congregation of the African leaders were all convinced that they will be served dully by the epitome of African leadership of our time,” the youth said.

Odunuga and Aderibigbe called on Nigerians and other Presidential aspirants to relax their aspirations till 2023 when the coasts would be cleared for them to take over the mantle of leadership.

“Buhari’s election as ECOWAS chairman, without campaign, is a warning to other political parties not to bother featuring a Presidential candidate.

“We also pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and protection for President Buhari in the course of discharging his duties to the nation and the world,” they said. (NAN)
