THE Anambra State Government has finalised plans to dualise two major roads in the city.

Governor Willie Obiano made the pronouncement during the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, campaign rally at Awka Township Stadium, Awka South Local Government Area.

He said the dualisation of the roads would among other things reduce traffic congestion as well as beautify the city to give it a `capitals’ outlook.

Obiano noted that the construction of the roads would commence next year as the roads involved would soon be announced after the passage of the 2018 budget.

According to him, the construction of pedestrian bridge linking Regina Ceali and Okpuno will also commence next year.

“In addition, we will commence reconstructing the inner roads in Awka.

“Due to security system already installed, we have attracted, various industries into the state.

“We have new 119 hotels, in addition to a number of others in the past.

“All these are contributing in boosting the state’s internally generated revenue,” Obiano said.

Victor Umeh, the chairman Obiano Re-election Campaign Committee, noted some of the state’s projects in Awka South, which include the completed three flyovers and the ongoing construction of Umuawulu Roads.

Umeh urged the people to sustain their support for the present administration to continue in championing people’s welfare.

Nnamdi Okafor, the member representing Awka South 1 constituency in the state House of Assembly, promised to deliver APGA in the November 18 election.
