Protest: Chamber boss urges business community to be vigilant, law-abiding

THE Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has advised the business community in Abuja to exercise vigilance and adhere strictly to the law amid the planned protest in Nigeria.
The ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, SAN, said this in a statement by his Media/Strategy Officer,
Olayemi John-Mensah on Wednesday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some Nigerians are planning to embark on #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, from Aug. 1 to Aug. 10 across the country.
Obegolu said: “As the leading voice of the organised private sector in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ACCI is committed to closely monitoring the situation.
” And providing daily advisories to ensure the safety and security of businesses and investments.
“We urge all members of the business community to remain vigilant and law-abiding during this period.
” It is crucial to stay informed and prepared to ensure the safety of your establishments, employees, and customers.”
According to Obegolu, the ACCI is dedicated to supporting its members and will publish daily advisories to provide timely updates and guidance on the protest.
He called on the Police and other security agencies to take all necessary measures to protect businesses and investments in the FCT.
The leader of the organised private sector in the FCT underscored the importance of maintaining peace and order, highlighting the sanctity of human life and the need to safeguard lives and properties.
“The protection of human life is paramount. We urge all parties to prioritise the safety and well-being of individuals and communities.
“The chamber stands ready to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful environment where businesses can thrive.
“The ACCI remains committed to its role as a leader in the organised private sector, providing support and advocacy for businesses in the FCT, ” he said.
Obegolu also restated the commitment of the chamber to work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the security and stability of the business environment during these challenging times.(NAN)
