PVC Update: Less than 50,000 PVCs collected in Edo and Lagos so far

THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, update on the collection of permanent voter cards, PVCs, shows that only 45144 PVCs have been collected in Edo and Lagos, states as of January 14, and 15, 2023, respectively.

The report also showed that while a total of 12,352 were distributed in 18 local governments of Edo State as of Saturday, January 14, 2023, only 32,792 PVCs have been collected in the 20 Local governments, LG, of Lagos state as of January 15, 2023.

According to the update, the LG distribution for Edo state showed that Ovia North East had the highest number with 2494 PVC’s collected, followed by Oredo, 1334; Ikpoba Okha, 1172; Etsako East, 1020, Egor, 1014; Owan East, 906; Akoko Edo, 714; and Etsako West, 617.

Others are Orhionmwon, 593; Uhunmwode, 530; Esan West, 345; Ovia South West, 341; Esan Central, 317; Etsako Central, 283; Owan West, 193; Esan North East, 185; Esan South, East 183; while Igueben had the lowest collection with 111.

Similarly, the update on collection of PVCs, according to each LG’s in Lagos State showed that Eti-Osa had the highest number of PVC’s collected so far with 8312, followed by Alimosho, 6629; Oshodi-Isolo, 2199; Kosofe, 2093; Ikorodu, 1859; 1778, Somolu; Mushin, 1694.

Others are, Ikeja, 990; Surulere, 876; Badagre, 870; Apapa, 855; Ekpe, 838; Ifako-Ijaiye, 630; Amuwo Odufin, 581; Agege, 522; Ibeju-Lekki, 507; Ojo, 475; Ajeromi-Ifelodun, 432; Lagos Mainland, 373; even as Lagos Island recorded the lowest with 279.

INEC also noted that the collection of PVC will continue every day in every ward, including Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 3 pm, except public holidays, until Sunday, January 22.

However, the PVC collection will revert to the INEC offices in the LGAs from Monday, January 23, to Sunday, January 29, being the last day for the collection.
