Ramadan: Women NGO distributes N3 million to 100 widows

A Muslim women humanitarian Non-Governmental Organisation, Sisters of Jannah (SOJ), has distributed the sum of N5,000 each to over 100 Muslim widows across the country for their Ramadan celebration.

National President of the NGO, Mrs Ramatu Aliyu, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen, on Saturday in Abuja.

She said the organisation had embarked on its annual Ramadan Care with the distribution of relief materials to the needy and vulnerable groups among the Muslim ummah across the country.

The national president also disclosed that the organisation was currently distributing food items to the poor in 20 states of the federation.

She noted that social distancing was strictly adhered to in the course of sharing the food items to the deserving people in order to avoid risks factors associated with COVID-19.

Aliyu reiterated the commitment of the organisation towards alleviating the challenges of Muslim women, especially in the month of Ramadan amidst the lockdown in FCT and other parts of the country.

She explained that as part the humanitarian efforts, the organisation had created a platform to empower members through different online programmes

Aliyu listed the programmes to include seminars, online digital marketing, soap and cream making among others to enable them become self-reliant ahead of post COVID-19 pandemic era.

Aliyu, therefore, called on the Muslim ummah to take advantage of the Ramadan for sober reflection and intensify prayers to Allah to intervene on the dreaded novel coronavirus ravaging the globe. (NAN)
