MALAYSIA on Wednesday said 135 patients of COVID-19 had been cured and discharged, bringing the total to 4,702 or 73.1 percent of all cases.
Health Ministry Director-General, Noor Hisham Abdullah, said at a news briefing that 45 new cases were reported, bringing the total cases to 6,428, of which 1,619 are still receiving treatment.
Noor Hisham said that of the new cases, 44 are local transmissions while the remaining one is an imported case.
He added that of those still receiving treatment, 22 are currently being held in intensive care and nine of those are in need of assisted breathing.
One more death had been reported, with the victim had suffered from health issues before becoming infected, pushing the death toll to 107.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Malaysians who were stranded within the country since the movement control order was implemented on March 18, would be allowed to make cross-state travel to return home from May 7 to 10.
The easing of the inter-state travel ban came as the government allowed most economic activities to reopen this week. (Xinhua/NAN)
