Rector pledges to support NRCS activities in Niger

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger, Dr Abubakar Dzukogi, on Monday pledged to support the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) to perform its humanitarian services in the state creditably.

Dzukogi made the pledge after he had received a certificate of honour as patron from the society in Bida Division.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the certificate was presented to the rector by the state chairman of the society, Alhaji Hamisu Jankaro, at his residence in Bida.

He said that the Red Cross deserved support and assistance from government and well-meaning individuals in the society, considering their task of alleviating the suffering of the people.

The rector appreciated the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), the International Committee of Red Cross and Red Cross Crescent Society (ICRC) and the National Society for their support to the victims of 2019 flood disaster in the state.Rector pledges to support NRCS activities in Niger

He said that the financial, material and other support to the victims of the disaster impacted positively on their lives.

Dzukogi said that the Red Cross movement in Nigeria had a good structure and highly experienced members who could provide humanitarian services during war, conflicts as well as natural disasters.

He thanked the Red Cross in the state, especially the Bida division, for honouring him as its patron.

The rector also assured the society’s Bida division that he would he support their activities.

Earlier, the state chairman of the society had requested for an office accommodation and logistics support to enable the society function effectively.

He congratulated Dzukogi for his reappointment as the rector of the institution. (NAN)
