POLICE Command in Zamfara is set to deploy about 3,000 personnel to ensure a peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebration, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usman Nagogo has said.

Nagogo disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Gusau while speaking on preparation for the Sallah festivity.

“We have about 3,000 personnel as our manpower in this command and all of us, I mean, including myself will be involved to ensure that all orders and instructions by the federal and state governments are complied with.

“Even though the state governor, Alhaji Bello Matawalle is yet to announce whether or not there will be Sallah congregational prayers at the Eid grounds spread across the state, I have detailed all the officers and men of the command to be ready for either way,” he said.

He, however, said that the police would ensure compliance with all coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention  guidelines, stressing that all public gatherings relating to the Sallah celebrations would not be allowed.

Nagogo, while shedding light on the level of compliance on physical distancing, commended residents on the use of face mask which he rated 80 percent.

He told NAN that the use of the face mask was also addressing the physical distancing measure in the state. (NAN)
