The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), said it would commence its maiden women pilgrimage to Israel in July.

Mr Celestine Ogugua, Head Media, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday in Abuja.

“ Women have great influence in nation building and by the time they come back from this programme there  will be changes on the nation.

“Women have their God-given ability to guide their husbands aright for the stability, progress and development of this country,” he said.

He described women as pacesetters in the world, and are distinctive in lifestyle, ministry and leadership.

Ogugua said in one accord they would pray for the nation’s leaders beginning with a  prayer for forgiveness of transgressions that might have been working against the progress of the nation.

He said the maiden women pilgrimage was introduced to ensure christian women  enjoy the opportunity to participate in pilgrimage and to also share their Christian values.

According to him, the commission has already sensitised the women towards the July pilgrimage to the holyland, which is specifically planned for them.

He said the pilgrimage was also  to bring Nigerian women together under one umbrella and strengthen them in their various roles

The media head said in preparation ahead of the women pilgrimage the commission had  a one-day workshop that brought together female church leaders, wives of church leaders and other leading Christian women.

He disclosed the commission has made arrangements for the women to be treated with royalty while on pilgrimage so they can have enough time to pray, visit the agricultural sites and share their cultural values together. (NAN)
