RESIDENTS of Gidan Madi community in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto state have commended Gov. Aminu Tambuwal’s commitment to the smooth take-off of the newly established Federal College of Education (FCE), in the area.

Malam Sharifuddeen Sidi and Malam Bello Tangaza made the commendations in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Sokoto.

Sidi described the recent site visit and other physical preparations as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment and urged people of the area to take advantage of the college to further their studies.

He called on eligible residents to enroll for different educational programmes that the institution would provide.

On his part, Tangaza explained that the institution would enable students to obtain minimum teaching qualification of the National Certificate of Education (NCE), a stepping stone to getting a university education.

NAN recalled that Gov. Tambuwal pledged to provide maximum support toward smooth take-off of the college when the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Prof. Baffa Aliyu, visited him.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for citing the school in the area and assured that his administration would give all the necessary support to ensure its smooth take off.

Tambuwal said the state government would facilitate the take-off of the college, including the payment of compensations where necessary, as appropriate places were selected for the permanent and temporary sites for the college.

The executive secretary had expressed satisfaction with the facilities on the ground and expressed confidence that the college would begin with more facilities by October as directed by President Buhari. (NAN)
