THE Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Rivers State Chapter, has donated relief materials to displaced victims of recent attacks in Southern Kaduna.

Donating the items at the Internally Displaced People’s Camp in Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Chairman, Mr. Bitrus Mu’azu said the union was concerned over the plight of the victims.

“We were worried about seeing the unfortunate situation the people at home are faced with. So, I am here on behalf of the SOKAPU, Rivers State branch to sympathise with you and encourage you to be strong and not lose hope.

“We have brought these food items for you and it is our sincere hope that it will go a long way in ameliorating the hardship you are going through in this place,” he said

He prayed for divine intervention for a lasting solution to the security challenges bedeviling the region.

He, however, cautioned people against taking laws into their hands in the face of the attacks, noting that vengeance was for God.

“We would continue to pray to God to shield Southern Kaduna from any further attacks because our people have suffered enough.

“Any evil machinations against the people of Southern Kaduna will never see the light of the day as our region is an Apple in God’s eyes.

“I am urging you all not to engage in any form of reprisal attacks but to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to the security agencies,” he added

Mu’azu commended those managing the camp for the provision of temporary shelter for the vulnerable victims.

Receiving the items on behalf of the IDPs, Elder David Nyat, thanked SOKAPU, Rivers State branch, and the national body of the union for their relentless support towards the well being of the victims.

Nyat called on other well-meaning individuals and organisations to come to their aid. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the items donated include bags of rice, beans, maize, groundnut oil. (NAN)
