Rivers State: Group to empower Seafarers, others

IN its bid to bridge the gap of several years of neglect on welfare packages, development and human capacity building and improvement of Seafarers ratings and officers in the Nigerian Maritime industry, the Noble Seamen Development Foundation, a non government organization, NGO, that is saddled with the responsibilities to develop Seafarers with global trends and skills needed and even to empower successful and qualified ones has promised to empower seafarers and some unemployed youths in Rivers state. 

 Another cardinal objective of the NGO our correspondent reports, is to proffer solutions on guidance and counselling in accordance with the rules and policies governing the operations and administration of Seafarers. More so, is to provide a workable framework to alleviate their sufferings and empower them with gainful employment.

This information was made known by the President and Chairman of the Organization, Douglas Eromobor at a maiden meeting with its Board of Directors held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital weekend. 

Eromobor, noted that the “Noble Seamen Development Foundation is a non governmental organization established for human capacity provision, efficient service delivery Provider; Logistics Provider and employment Provider.”

 “Noble Seamen foundation is aimed to create seamless operations for Seafarers, enhance their welfare, working environment and collaborate with government and its agencies on synergies,” he said.

However, Eromobor charged all Directors of the foundation to redouble their efforts and zeal to help in achieving lasting solutions for Seafarers and feasible roadmap in the area of collaboration with government in the Nigerian Maritime industry.

The meeting had in attendance the President and four other directors of the foundation.
