The Rotary Community Corps Piwoyi, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Abuja Federal, on Wednesday, donated six hand washing units and other personal hygiene products to the L.E.A Primary School, Piwoyi in the FCT.

Speaking during the presentation, Mrs Caroline Asemah, President of the community corps, said the items were donated to encourage personal hygiene among the pupils even as the world battle to end the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We noticed that most public schools in this environment do not have personal hygiene facilities like this and we don’t want their counterparts in private schools to leave them behind.

“That is why we decided to make this donation to encourage them to always take their health seriously and keep themselves safe,” she said.

Also speaking, Dr Patrick Ezie, President, Rotary Club of Abuja Federal, said the gesture was aimed at protecting the pupils from the coronavirus as well as sensitising them on how to protect themselves from the virus and other diseases.

Ezie added that the importance of handwashing habits at all times among the pupils cannot be overemphasized, so as to curtail the spread of the pandemic in the country.

Mrs Patricia Orji, Headmistress, L.E.A Primary School, Piwoyi, appreciated the club for the gesture and assured of their commitment to use the items judiciously. (NAN)
