MUHAMMADU Sanusi II, emir of Kano,  has hailed the impact of Bizi Mobile Cashless Agency on job creation in the country.

Aminu Bizi, chairman of Bizi Mobile, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Kaduna on Thursday, said that Sanusi expressed this when he was visited by the mobile banking agency at his palace in Kano on Tuesday.

“If I recall, the last time we had press conference, I told you that we are going to empower at least two million Nigerians through job creation which for me is becoming a reality.

Also, he stressed agency’s resolve at being the pacesetter in mobile banking in Nigeria, adding: “As you can see, within January, the whole secretariat of the CBN and other stakeholders visited to see what we are doing. Like I said, people are in need of our services and we have been trying with the available staff to make sure we bridge the gap of financial inclusion,” he said.

According to him, they are not carried away by the successes recorded so far, but would step up efforts at educating  students, ministries of commerce and others from the financial cooperative sector.

“We are trying to synergize with them, make them agents, so that we reduce the kind of queue  in the banks. If there is a secondary school, and they have a union or association, they can have POS machines. That association alone can be able to solve the problem people face when they spend hours on queues,” he added.

Earlier at the briefing, Atta Joseph from the financial inclusion secretariat of CBN said that the National inclusion Strategy as a document was launched in October 2012.

“And the aim was to lay a framework that will enable the financial service providers in Nigeria to increase the level of access of those who are excluded from financial services. They will be able to access such services like payment services, savings, credit and pension.

“As you know very well, finance is very important in economy because with finance you will be able to access factors of production like land, entrepreneurship management, and other factors of production to be able to produce goods and services, either at current scale or at an expanded scale.

“When the strategy was launched, the idea was, if you provide such services to Nigerians, it will assist them to do their businesses better. As you know very well, lots of Nigerians don’t have employment, and a lot of them, not that they don’t have the intellectual capacity to do businesses or manage their businesses, but the part is that they don’t know how to save, whereto save,  and how to borrow money to invest in their businesses, how to manage risks pertaining to their insurance or engaging in pension services,” he said.

The CBN official expressed optimism that with mobile banking and financial inclusion, the country’s GDP will grow and the level of importation of goods and services will go down, because such goods and services are now been produced in Nigeria.

“So there are a lot of benefits  for individuals. On the part of financial service providers, as they serve more people, they make more profit, because, those they serve by way of loans will pay interest on the loans that they give such  people so that they can make more profits,” he added.

He explained Bizi Mobile Agency objective was how to ensure that it meets the target they have set under the national inclusion strategy, which is to reduce the percentage of adult Nigerians that are excluded from the national service to 20 per cent by 2020.

“We came here to workout how to achieve that target by 2020, as it is very close to us,” he said.
