Scottish actor, Sean Connery, star of the James Bond series is dead. Born in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh on August 25, 1930, Connery was the first actor to portray the role.
He marked his 90th birthday in August and the Conneey played 007 in the first five Bond films. Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), and You Only Live Twice (1967).
He later featured in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).
His character as James Bond was selected as the third-greatest hero in cinema history by the American Film Institute.
The late producer won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globes.
