Air raids kills 5 militants in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province

ARMY spokesman, Mohammad Rezai, on Wednesday said five militants have been killed after the government forces’ fighting planes struck Taliban hideouts in Chamtal district of the northern Balkh province.
Rezai said three more militants were injured in the sorties launched on Tuesday evening.
He added that no security personnel and civilians had been hurt in the raids.
Taliban militants who have intensified anti-government activities since mid-April have not commented.
Balkh province with Mazar-e-Sharif as its capital, 305 kilometres north of Kabul has been the scene of increasing Taliban-led militancy over the past couple of years. (Xinhua/NAN)
