THE police command in Nasarawa State, has deployed 3, 000 of its personnel to ensure a hitch-free and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr in the state.

ASP Samaila Usman, the spokesman of the command, made this disclosure in Lafia on Thursday.

According to him, the deployment is part of the operational order from the force headquarters, Abuja.

Usman said that the personnel deployed by the Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Bello, included plain clothed officers to undertake surveillance and intelligence gathering.

He said that the command would sustain rigorous patrol along the highways and some identified flash points to curtail the excesses of criminal elements.

Usman promised that the personnel would work round the clock to prevent criminals to take advantage of the festivities to commit crimes in the state.

“We have reinforced our patrol around the axis identified as black spots for kidnapping by injecting more mobile policemen to stem the tide of abduction in the state”.

He said that officers would also be drafted to all the Eid praying grounds and recreational centres across the state to ensure safety.

Usman, therefore, urged Muslim faithful to cooperate with the officers on ground in order to protect their lives.

He called on residents to live in peace with one another irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliations and disregard those peddling hate speeches.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PPRO gave out emergency mobile telephone numbers to the public to dial for immediate response while in distress: 08108795930, 08112692680, and 08123821571.
