THE Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday gave vehicle owners with artificial tinted windshields and covered number plates eight days within which to amend them or face the traffic laws.

The command’s Spokesman, Caleb Ikechukwu, (DSP),  said in Ado Ekiti that the command reiterated the warning because many motorists had flouted its earlier appeal.

Ikechukwu said that indiscriminate use of tinted windshields which were not factory fitted was on the rise in spite of the initial warnings.

“The general public is advised to remove such windshield in their interest on or before April 1.

“The command will commence the arrest and enforce the traffic laws for such offences.

“Also, the command has placed embargo on unauthorized use of covered number plates because the unwholesome practice may be deployed by unscrupulous persons to perpetrate crime,” he said.

Ikechukwu said the covering of number plates amounted to a clear breach of the road traffic Act and other relevant lawso of the land, adding that it could impact negatively on safety of lives and property if it was not tackled urgently.  (NAN)
