Ensure safety of Ekiti for all, Speaker urges new police boss

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Adeniran Alagbada, has called on the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Amba Asuquo, to ensure that “Ekiti state is safe for all and sundry.“

He also stressed the need for the new police boss to pay particular attention to curtailing the recent spate of killings and other criminal activities in the state.

The Speaker made the call in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, (Media) Mr Oluwatoyin Babalola in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.

The speaker said: “I urge the new Commissioner of Police, Asuquo to take advantage of the support of the people’s friendly Assembly and the Executive to develop appropriate synergy to tackle ungodly elements who have made crime a new way of life.

“It is necessary for the police to double up their work following the recent killing of one person and kidnap of two along the Ise-Ekiti – Ikere-Ekiti  route.

“Some days ago, one of my aides enrouting  Ado-Ekiti from Ise-Ekiti briefed me of the killing of a citizen and kidnap of two.

“It is depressing and the Police Command in Ekiti state need to double up its work, now than ever.”

He called on the Police immediately swing into action to ensure the recovery safety of those kidnapped and capture the culprits.

The speaker congratulated the new police boss and prayed God to grant him wisdom, knowledge, bravery as well as strength to manage the security of the state. (NAN)
