THE Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Calabar, Rear Adm. David Adeniran, has charged out-going officers of the command to continue to be hardworking and committed in their new units.

Adeniran gave the advice on Friday in Calabar at the Navy Mess during a send forth held to appreciate 19 senior officers of the command recently deployed to other naval commands.

He said that the Nigeria Navy appreciated excellence, hard work and commitment to service and urged the officers to be of good conduct and to always promote the ethics of the force.

“We are not sending off these officers because they are still in the navy, but we are appreciating their contributions to the command. They have contributed a lot, they have made their sacrifices.

“Between September 2018 and now, if we were to list our achievements in this command, you will agree with me that we achieved a lot and this wouldn’t have been possible without your sacrifices and contributions.

“We expect that you also go there and contribute your quota as well. Much will be expected of you since you are coming from here because they have all heard of our achievements.

“I thank you all and wish you well in your new units. Please don’t forget that anywhere you go, you are carrying with you the sign of the Eastern Naval Command on your forehead,’’ he said.

Responding on behalf of the deployed officers, Rear Adm. Abraham Adaji, the immediate past Command Staff Officer, thanked the FOC and the leadership of the command for the team work in all the successes achieved.

Adaji explained that the Eastern Naval Command had added more value to their military career, adding that the command was known for excellence, team work and unity.

“The Eastern Naval Command has added more to our lives as naval officers. For me, it is unique that for over 34 years of my service, I am happy to have served in this command,’’ he said.

The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Victory, Commodore Julius Nwagu was also deployed out of the Command.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of plaques to the 19 officers in appreciation for their service to the command. (NAN)
