THE Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has  advised Nigerians to stop blaming witches for road crashes in the country, saying that human factors are mostly responsible for them.

Joseph Aremu, sector commander of the corps in Imo State, on Wednesday in Owerri, told journalists that motorists in the country  should always obey traffic rules and observe all road signs to avoid road crashes.

Contrary to belief by some Nigerians that road crashes were manipulations of witches, he said that major causes of most auto crashes were over speeding, drink driving and bad tyres.

He explained that under the influence of alcohol, a driver would lose his sense of judgment which could result in accidents on the road, adding that the corps in Imo was doing everything possible to ensure that road users stick to traffic rules.

Aremu said the command would go tough on traffic offenders to reduce crashes in the state.

He also said that FRSC would continue to partner with relevant sister agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the road was safe for all.
