FRSC deploys 170 personnel in Sokoto for Sallah

MR Sani Hamzat, the Sokoto State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says no fewer than 170 personnel will be deployed for traffic control in various parts of the state during Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

Hamzat told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the corps had also organized stakeholders meeting to ensure coordinated response in case of any emergency.

He said officials of the state Hisbah Commission, Fire Service, Road Transport Unions, Road Marshals, Police and other security agencies that attended the stakeholders meeting would also participate in traffic control throughout the period.

He explained that special traffic control plan was designed for Sokoto, Illela, Tambuwal, Isa among others in view high volume of traffic expected during the Sallah festival.

According to him, busy and densely populated roads such as Sokoto-Illela, Tambuwal-Jega, Isa-Sabonbirini, Sokoto-Gusau and others would have high deployment of personnel.

Hamzat enjoined drivers, travelers and other road users to prioritise safety while on roads to avert accidents.

He also called on drivers adhere to traffic regulations and ensure that their vehicles were road worthy.

The Commander said that the reintroduced night patrols would be sustained in partnership with the police.

He urged the people to promptly report why traffic accident or misuse of the roads, for prompt  intervention, so as to save lives.
