VICTIMS Support Fund (VSF) has commenced the distribution of 3, 600 goats to households affected by the insurgency in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.

VSF Executive Director, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, made the disclosure in a statement by Ms Munachi Okoro, the Information Officer of the fund, on Monday in Abuja.

Ochoche said the exercise was in continuation of the execution of its 2019/2020 Agro Support Project, adding that each household would receive three females and one male goat to ensure maximum productivity.

He also said that the livestock have been examined and duly inoculated to prevent outbreak of diseases and to ensure compliance with specifications

The director said that the project was designed to enhance access to agricultural resources for food production and livelihood support.

According to him, the intervention targets households in four selected local government areas of the benefiting states.

He listed the councils to include Kwayar Kusa in Borno and Maiha in Adamawa as well as Fika and Potiskum in Yobe.

“VSF is collaborating with the FADAMA III project, ministries of Agricultural Resources and Livestock as well as Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) in the states to ensure the provision of routine veterinary services to the benefiting households.

“This will increase productivity and ensure the health of the livestock,” he said.
