THE Lagos State Safety Commission today disclosed that efforts are top gear for rebranding of its activities such that the Safety Training Institute would be set up for the training of all stakeholders on safety, health and environment.

Hakeem Dickson, director-general, who made this known at a two-day mandatory Electrical Safety, Fire Risk Safety Assessment, Fire Fighting workshop for stakeholders, stated that safety audit of organisations would include checking their Safety training records and other relevant records.

He said the training became necessary due to series of fire outbreak reported recently, adding that the commission will continue to train and sensitize all sectors to avoid unfortunate incident.

Dickson noted that loss of lives and properties during fire incidents have serious consequences on the economic well-being of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole, hence the need for the commission, as a pro-active agency, to protect the citizens and properties against fire outbreak and other safety infractions.

He observed that Safety cuts across all sectors of our socio-economy, be it manufacturing, construction, small and medium enterprises among others, adding that the rate at which people migrate into Lagos on a daily basis, with few returning home, could have negative impact on the environment and threaten safety of the people.

The director-general reiterated the commitment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to making safety a lifestyle habit in Lagos State.
