New Police commissioner promises to continue with subsisting security arrangements

NEWLY posted commissioner of Police to Anambra State has assumed duties at the state command headquarters. Dandaura Mustapha, who hails from Katsina State, took over from Garba Umar, the former commissioner, who has since left the state.

Until his posting to Anambra, Mustapha was the commissioner of Police, Railways, Lagos.

Addressing newsmen at his Amawbia office, the new Police boss said his mission is to promote peace and security ahead of the February 16 general elections.

Mustapha promised to offer level playing grounds to all political parties, but cautioned against political thuggery or other forms of violence before, during and after the polls.

He stressed his determination to fight all forms of crimes and criminality, adding that his men had been admonished to leave no stones unturned in fighting cultism.

“Election Day is not a day for campaigns. We will remain focused to ensure free and fair elections.

“Cultism is coming back and we will deal with it decisively in order to sustain the security measures that the state installed.

“It is our determination to continue to make the state the safest in the country,’’ he added.

The new CP also cautioned police officers against extortion, urging the general public to report any extortions from the police to the appropriate authorities.
