THE Nigeria Police Force has refuted messages circulated in the social media that the “Police have invaded Ekiti State Government House”, describing it as misleading.

Caleb Ikechukwu, police public relations office, made this known in a press release he signed for the deputy inspector of police (Elections Duty Cordinators), Ado Ekiti, which was made available to Realnews July 11.

According to Ikechukwu, “The police would also want to use this medium to alert the general public that they should expect more of these misleading information from person(s) who do not mean well for the good people of Ekiti State”.

It explained that the presence of police officers around the Prof. Olusola Eleka pavillion at Fajuyi today was because two political parties wanted to have their rally on the same date in Ado Ekiti metropolis but the commissioner of police advised the political parties in writing on the need to have their political activity at different times because of the security implication.

The also police enjoined the general public to confirm the source of their information before circulating same to their friends or loved ones while soliciting the support of Ekiti citizens in giving useful and timely information to the police and other security agencies or call the command emergency numbers 08062335577, 08068223499 and 07012221175
