Police Parade Kidnappers of Governor Bello's Mother

THE Nigeria Police Force has paraded the kidnappers of the mother of Yahaya Bello, governor of kogi State, on Tuesday in Abuja. Members of the kidnap for ransom/armed robbery gang were also responsible for kidnappings and robberies in Abuja, Niger and Kogi States.

They include Iliyasu Suleiman, 44, and former councilor Okene Local government area who is the gang leader, Danjuma Ibrahim a.k.a Akpai /Senate, 26;  Iliyasu Obadaki a.k.a doctor, 35; Nasiru, 43,  Hafiz Yakubu, 26,   and Mohammed Jamiu aka Bomboy who was killed in a gun duel with the police.

The suspects were arrested sequel to the inspector general of police’s directive on the kidnapping in Abuja, Niger and Kogi States by the operatives of IGP Intelligence Response Team, IRT, who swung into action after the earlier arrest of Ibrahim a.k.a Akpai, in a follow up to his confession on several robberies and kidnapping in the states, including that of Bello’s mother in Okene Kogi State in 2014. The IRT teams were deployed to Kogi State and eventually three more members of the deadly kidnapping/terrorist gang were arrested in Okene Kogi state.

Ibrahim Idris, inspector general of police, has assured “Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force is ever ready and more determined to make sure that all those who engaged in vicious crimes such as kidnappings, armed robbery and other criminal activities do not escape justice.”

Jimoh Moshood, Force public relations officer, in a statement made available to Realnews, stated that all the suspects arrested have confessed to the kidnapping of Governor Yahaya Bello’s mother in 2014 and many other robberies and kidnappings in FCT, Kogi and Niger States. “Effort is being intensified to arrest other fleeing members of the gang. They will be charged to court on completion of investigation”.

He enjoined  members of the public to cooperate with the police personnel deployed in their localities and give useful information to prevent crime and criminality in their localities.
