Retired Immigration officers association lauds Babandede's administration

THE National Association of retired Immigration Officers have visited the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, at the NIS Headquarters, Abuja to extend solidarity and express their association’s confidence in the administration.

The group was led by Femi Ajisafe, Kayode Musa, Ankeli Ogbe, Mary Zimson, Emily Jonah, Folashade Ayeni, and the President of the Association Lasisi Gbadamosi.

A statement by Sunday James, NIS Public Relations Officer said that the Abuja Chapter and other state officials among others were happy and proud of the achievements recorded in three years in the NIS.

They observed that the service has grown in length and bound in all ramifications, especially in infrastructure in all the states, the six geo-political zones, and the FCT have impact of the administration, and all the reforms in passport, Visa, Migration Management, Border Management, Enforcement through Investigation and Compliance, yearly roll out of Strategic planning through the NIS Annual report which the Babandede started as a way of operating a transparent leadership and Administration since he came on board.

In addition, the yearly project appraisal and review of performance where Zonal Coordinators and Command Comptrollers are invited to the Service Headquarters to give account and report of projects in their various Zones and Commands, level of financial commitment, level of work done, observations and even suggestions on those works that may need the intervention of the CGI to instruct, direct or even summon such contractor for explanation and other forms of legal sanctions meted on erring contractors as the case may be.

The retired officers were elated with all round transformation that the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service brought to bear on the service, attracting all and sundry to admire the service, they observed as being active outside the service on retirement as they are recognized in their local set up due to the new image given the service and its relevance nationally and one that relates with the larger society that the NIS rating has gone up and they as retired officers can boldly refer to themselves as Immigration officers with pride anytime, any day.

According to the statement, this has brought them to pray and commit the Comptroller General into the hand of God for sustenance, wisdom and guidance to do more than has been done before and pledged their support in a register signed by them to register their confidence in the leadership, which is the first of its kind, where a serving Comptroller General will receive in audience retired officers personally in the meeting held in strict observance of the NCDC’s standard protocol for Covid-19.
