LIEUTENANT General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff, has handed a serious warning to all officers and soldiers interested in politics to resign their commission or immediately apply for voluntary discharge. This was as he warned those approaching some officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army for undisclosed political reasons to desist from such moves.
He reminded individuals in the habit of doing so that the Nigerian Army is a thorough, professional, disciplined loyal and apolitical institution that has clear Constitutional roles and responsibilities. This was contained in a statement issued by the Army spokesman, Brigadier-General Sani Kukasheka Usman, which reads that, “Any officer or soldier of Nigerian Army found to be hobnobbing with such elements or engaged in unprofessional conducts such as politicking would have himself or herself to blame.”
The Army Chief ended by reiterating that the Nigerian Army will remain apolitical and respects the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. – NAN
