SENATOR Teslim Folarin (APC-Oyo Central) has donated food items and cash totalling N2 million to private school teachers as well as some accident victims in his senatorial district.

The senator’s media aide, Yekeen Olaniyi, said this in a statement on Monday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Folarin, a third-time senator, is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content.

Folarin, in the statement, reiterated his commitment to inclusive and quality representation in order to improve his constituents’ standard of living.

He said that the donation was for selected private school teachers and some accident victims in the senatorial district.

The lawmaker said that the selected private school teachers were those who were not paid salaries by their institution’s management.

“We assembled selected private school teachers at Abimbola Excel College, Ona-Ara, and Zenith Kiddies Nursery/Primary School for the distribution of cash gifts.

“The team also visited Best Tradomedical Centre, Ibadan, to donate food items and cash to accident victims.

” Apart from food items, each beneficiary was given N5000,” he said.

Folarin assured constituents of his determination to direct positive energy in favour of people living with disabilities, accident victims, sick people as well as youths and women.

He said that the gesture would be in the form of empowerment, capacity building and poverty alleviation among others.

”We kicked off the first phase of the initiative with N2million worth of food items and cash gifts. We were able to reach out to many private school teachers and accident victims. Sen. Folarin is determined to do better during the second phase of the initiative,” he said.

The lawmaker called on philanthropic groups, public office holders, companies, philanthropists and government to support private school teachers badly affected by the current economic crisis. (NAN)
