VICTOR Umeh, senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, has assured that his arrival at the Red Chambers will reposition the place of Igbos in the country.
Umeh gave the assurance while addressing some Catholic faithful during Holy Mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, LGA.
The senator noted that it was regrettable that Igbos had been relegated and denied of their rights and privileges.
Umeh promised to use his lofty position in the Senate to empower Anambra youths and re-define the orientation toward productivity.
“I have been appointed into many committees in the Senate. I am a member Trade and Investment, Environment, Finance, Land and Housing, Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Culture and Tourism and Vice-Chairman Employment, Labour and Productivity.
“I requested to be a member, Federal Character Commission to ameliorate certain irregularities, but it didn’t work out.
“Many youths will benefit from me within this remaining one year and some months. I will restore the lost democratic dividends and promote the pride of Igbos in the country,’’ Umeh remarked.
Umeh, however, debunked rumours that he removed the former Senator, representing Anambra Central (Sen Uche Ekwunife) to become a senator, stressing that he only believed in due process.
“APGA believes in the rule of law. This was the reason why Peter Obi became a governor after three years of litigation. We fought injustice. We don’t believe in irregularities.
“I am not limited by time in my capacity as to what I can do…
“I fought in court to correct political injustice. No matter how long it takes me, justice must be done. Obiano is a product of due process,’’ he said.
He assured that APGA will always remain the shield that protects the Igbos.
