
South West Leaders Realign for 2019

LEADERS of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South-West, on Thursday, January 12, met in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, for several hours, where they resolved that it was vital for the region to be more united.
Olusegun Osoba, a former governor of Ogun State, who spoke to journalists on behalf of the leaders after the meeting, said the meeting was held to discuss several issues affecting the political situation in the South-West.
Osoba said: “We met principally to discuss issues affecting the South-West and we have come out with a resolution to show that in the South-West of the APC, there is unity of purpose.
“We are together on all issues concerning the governance of this country. We have also discussed on what should be the role and influence to exercise as a group for the interest and progress of the country.
“We have examined the government and have reviewed all issues. All those to be taken to Abuja will be done by those concerned. We have related with our representatives at the National Assembly, party leaders and governors.”
Osoba also assured stakeholders that total unity and consultation among the governors would be encouraged for the development of the South-West.
The meeting, which was hosted by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, had in attendance the Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State; and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.
Also in attendance were Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC; Bisi Akande, a former interim chairman of the party; Segun Oni, the APC ’s national deputy chairman (South-West); Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Osun State governor; Sola Adeyeye, Senate chief whip; and Femi Gbajabiamila, majority leader, House of Representatives.
Others are Babatunde Fashola, minister of Works, Power and Housing; Adebayo Shittu, minister of Communications and Lai Mohammed, minister of Information and Culture.
