THE head coach of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Football Club, Akinade Onigbinde, on Wednesday urged the Nigeria Federation Football (NFF) to resolve its leadership crisis.

Onigbinde told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the tussle over the leadership of the NFF may affect football in the country.

Chris Giwa and the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board have been involved in a leadership tussle, after a Jos High Court issued an order stopping the election which brought Pinnick to office in 2014.

The crisis took a new dimension on July 2, when Giwa resumed at the NFF office in Abuja, as the president of the body.

Onigbinde said leagues should have resumed when Nigeria crashed out of the world cup.

“All the leagues went on break to resume after the World Cup but with the problem at the NFF, only God knows when the leagues will resume.

“We have been training every day to keep our players fit for the National Federation Cup and the Nigeria National League (NNL).

“We are targeting the first three positions in the Federation Cup.

“We have been playing friendly matches to keep them in the mood for competition. We are ready to resume the competition.

“We are well prepared to start the Federation Cup. We are waiting for NFF to solve their tussle and announce the kick-off date of National Federation Cup and the League.

“If two elephants are fighting, it is the grass that will suffer, clubs will be suffering for this tussling,” the coach said.

Onigbinde advised the NFF to resolve their differences to avoid negative decision by FIFA.

“We are the third best country in football in Africa according to the latest FIFA ranking. We should not allow that rating to reduce,” he warned. (NAN)
