Dolphins, First Bank Represent Nigeria in FIBA Africa Champions

DOLPHINS, Nigerian basketball champions departed the country for Luanda, capital of Angola on Thursday, November 26, to feature in the International Basketball Federation, FIBA, Africa Club Champions Cup holding between November 27 and December 6.

Dolphins, who lost their FIBA Africa Zone 3 title at the Africa championship qualifier, which was held at the Palaise des Sports de Cotonou, Benin Republic from November 4 to 12, will join First Bank, current Zone 3 champions, in Angola to represent both Nigeria and the zone.

After the qualifier in Cotonou, Ochuko Okworogun, Dolphins coach, said her players had learnt from their experience and would put in their best when they meet tougher opponents in Angola.

“We will do our best at the African championship. We will improve on our last year performance,” Okworogun said.

Dolphins finished fourth, while First Bank finished fifth in the tournament which was held last year in Sfax, Tunisia.
