KAMORU Usman, Nigerian-born American mixed martial fighter, has continued meteoric rise in the Ultimate Fighting Championship with a first-round knockout victory over previously undefeated Brazilian, Sergio Moreas at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, USA.

Speaking in the ring after his impressive fight, the 30-year-old Benin born fighter also known as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ hailed Nigeria saying: “Naija, we don land. Them say we no fit do am; I go show them say Naija no dey carry last.”

Usman, who is from Auchi, was ranked 13 in the welterweight division heading into the fight and extended his winning streak to 10 consecutive fights. He believes he is no longer a prospect in the division but a contender now and has his eyes set on tackling the division’s absolute best, singling out former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos.

Tonight, I needed to make a statement, I needed to put a stamp on this division and let them know that there’s not one guy who can hang in there with me.” Usman said.

“I am a problem in the division. There is not one guy that wants to take this fight – not one. How many people do you know calling me out? There’s not one guy who wants this fight.

“They keep lining up anybody and I will keep taking them out. RDA (Dos Santos), you want to come into my division and want to talk about you going for the title. Are you serious? Line him up. Line him up and let me send him back down and cut weight again. Line him up,” he said.
