A NIGERIAN female footballer, Asisat Oshoala, who plies her trade for Liverpool Ladies football club in England, appears set to move to Arsenal Ladies.

Liverpool confirmed on its website on Tuesday, January 26, that it had accepted offer from the London club for it to sign Oshoala, who has begun to emerge as one of the finest female footballers in the game today.

According to reports in Nigeria, the striker, who was named African Women’s Player of the Year in 2014, will discuss personal terms with the Gunners, and thrash out the small print of the contract, before deciding whether she would swap life in Merseyside for a switch to London.

A statement on the Liverpool website said in part: “After the Gunners activated a clause in the Nigerian international’s contract, the striker will now discuss personal terms with Pedro Martinez Losa’s side.

“The deal is also subject to the 21-year-old being granted a work permit ahead of the 2016 season.”

The 21-year-old moved to Liverpool from Rivers Angels, a Nigerian club side in 2015, having made her Nigeria debut years earlier.

Oshoala was the top scorer at the 2014 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup, and was also named the best player in the tournament. However, she could not repeat the feat at last year’s Women’s World Cup, as Nigeria was dumped out in the first round.
