Coach urges Niger Tornadoes players to be focused, hopeful

COACH Hamza Abara of Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna, on Wednesday urged players to be focused and work harder.

He said this was to bring the club out of relegation in the ongoing 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Abara, who made this known in Minna during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), also urged the players to be hopeful and adhere to instructions in the eight remaining matches for the club.

“The damage of being on the relegation zone has been done, but we are working very hard to salvage the situation.

“We are working very hard to see that we don’t drop any point again by winning our four home matches,” he said.

He said that the club had played 14 matches so far and balanced of eight out of them; four home matches and four away matches.

He explained that if the club could win it’s four home matches, win two away and get one point each in the remaining matches, it would save it the embarrassment of being relegated.

According to him, players in the club are average players but not rip for the NPFL.

“The crop of players we have now are average players, they are good but not for the NPFL.

“Right now, we are managing them to see how we can salvage the situation we are in now,” he said.
Similarly, Aliko Mustapha, captain of the club and goalkeeper, told NAN that “we are working hard and praying to see that we get out of relegation.”

NAN reports that Tornadoes has 10 points out of 14 matches and occupying bottom of the league table (12th position). (NAN)
