Kwara Sports Festival: AbdulRasaq to flag off Touch of Unity

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara will on Thursday flag off the 7th Kwara State Sports Festival with lighting the Torch of Unity.

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Joana Kolo, told newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday that the ceremony precedes the sports festival.

“All arrangements have been made for the flag-off ceremony to hold as scheduled, the committee will later bear the Torch of Unity symbol to all the Local Government Areas after the flag off by the the governor,” Kolo said.

The commissioner commended AbdulRazaq for his drive to use sports as a tool for youth empowerment.

“I want to thank the governor using his discretion to use the festival to discover talents in the rural areas and using sports to discourage youths from engaging in vices,” she said.

Kolo called on all the stakeholders and sports enthusiastic to join the governor in the colourful ceremony at the Government House, adding that the festival would commence Jan. 25 and end on Feb. 1.
