NIGERIA Customs Service (NCS) Volleyball Club on Monday in Abuja won their second game in the female competition of the Final Eight tournament of the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NCS defeated Benue Queens of Makurdi 3-0 after dominating the game mostly by winning 25-21 25-12 27-25.

NCS had won their opening game on Sunday by beating the Nigerian Army side 3-0, while the Benue Queens had lost 0-3 in their own match against the NSCDC.

Speaking after Monday’s game, the NCS coach, Femi Akanni, noted that his players had a good game.

“I congratulate my players. They played very well, as we planned all our games before coming for this last round.

“We won  the first round in Ilorin, and we also won the second round in Port Harcourt. And because we received all the necessary support from the office, we are here to lift the trophy.

“I told my players to move from the beginning to the end and they achieved that because if we had given our opponents the time to relax,  we would have been in trouble,”  he said.

On his part, Anthony Torbundeh, the coach of  Benue Queens, said while his team played well individually they still did not play as a team.

“My team played against a strong and well-experienced team. It is unfortunate that we lost our second match.

“We will go back to the drawing board and work towards achieving success in our next match.

“I need to teach my players some serious tactics of the game. We can not  continue to lose our matches, because we have a target for the final,” he said.

NAN reports that seven clubs are participating in the female competition of the league, comprising the NCS, Nigerian Army, Delta Force, NSCDC, Nigerian Immigration, Benue Queens and Kaduna Kada Emeralds.

Meanwhile, six clubs are set to participate in the male category of the league.

These are the NCS, Nigeria Police (NPF), NSCDC, Nigerian Immigration, Kano Pillars and Plateau.

NAN reports that the final eight round of the Nigerian volleyball league which is holding at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium began on Sunday and will end on Saturday.
