THE  Technical Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Bitrus Bewarang,  and the body’s  former Secretary General, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, have urged  the Super Eagles to work hard and win the match against Argentina billed for Tuesday at  St. Petersburg  Stadium.

In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  on Monday in St. Petersburg, the duo urged the players to raise the tempo of the match against the Argentines.

Bewarang, who acknowledged the dramatic come-back of the Eagles against Iceland in  a 2-0 victory, told NAN that the team had  no reason not to beat Argentina.

‘‘It was good that the Super Eagles played themselves back into contention for the second round of the event, but that is not enough.

‘‘ They  still need to do enough to be able to surmount the Argentine challenge in  tomorrow’s  match which is a  make-or mar game.

‘’They are aware that if they lose the match,  they are going back to Nigeria immediately;  so for them to move forward in the competition,  they must play well and win,’’ he said.

NAN reports that apart from Croatia who won their last two matches to garner a maximum of six points, Nigeria with three points still needs to beat Argentina to enhance their qualification for second round.

Ogunjobi, on his part, told NAN that the match against Argentina was too crucial for the players to toy with, saying ‘’ they need to go all out and win.’’

‘’In spite of the present standing of the opponents, they are still plotting to win the match against Nigeria on Tuesday,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the Eagles, who flew into St. Petersburg on Sunday night,  are currently upbeat about the game and  are rearing to go. (NAN)
