FADEKEMI Olude, a race walker representing the country at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, on Tuesday said the Australian weather would not be an obstacle to her during the competition.

Olude told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from Gold Coast in Australia that the weather was favourable, adding that she would be able to cope with it during the competition.

“The weather is good. I have no doubt that I can cope with the weather on the day I will compete, “she said.

NAN reports that the host country is currently in the autumn season, during which sunny days are followed by cooler nights with average temperature of 18 to 25.7 degrees Celsius.

Water temperatures are still high enough to swim and it is generally less rainy than the summer months.

The 20-year-old race walker told NAN that with God and luck on her side, she would put in her best to clinch a medal at the competition.

“Before I attend any competition, I always pray to God to help me while putting in my best. I also pray for luck to be on my side, “she said.

NAN reports that the Games will hold from April 4 to April 15, while the athletics event will hold from April 8 to April 15.
