Star Sunny Mass Transit storms VIO computerised Vehicle Testing Centre

THE Management of Star Sunny Motor Mass Transit on Monday, Oct. 23, stormed the Anambra State Vehicle Inspection office, VIO, Computerised Inspection Centre, Awka with some vehicle in its fleet for inspection.

This was in response to the mandate by Anambra State Government under the aegis of Ministry of Road, Rail and Water transportation for all mass transit buses in the state to undergo Vehicle Testing.

The exercise involved checking the vehicle’s breaking system, lighting, tyres, wheel alignments, emissions, shock absorbers, suspensions and steering.

Sensitizing the drivers who came for the exercise,  Christopher Okeke, head of Operations, VIO, explained that the testing were to ascertain the road worthiness of the vehicles that had been at the statutory mandate of the VIO.

He told them to obey traffic rules and regulations such as avoiding overtaking vehicles at bends, narrow bridges or roads, crest of hills and junctions, indiscriminate parking and sudden U-turn on the highways.

Okeke also educated them on proper usage of hazard lights (double trafficators), which signified that the vehicle was faulty and not indicating the motorist’s intention to continue on a one way drive.

He also advised drivers to always ensure that their vehicle documents were authentic and complete.

Okeke Anthony, general manager, Star Sunny Motors,  in expressing satisfaction over the exercise, added that their vehicles usually undergo routine checks every Mondays before being allowed to ply the roads.

Okeke said that the testing exercise would further assist the company to discover hidden faults in their vehicles, with a view to remedying them.

The general manager enjoined other transport companies to avail their vehicles for the testing exercise in other to ascertain the conditions of their vehicles as a way of ensure safety on the roads.
