Stop bias against women–Lawmaker

MRS Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, representing Oluyole Federal Constituency (APC-Oyo), has called on all tiers of governments to take necessary steps to ensure that all forms discrimination against women were stopped.

Akande-Sadipe in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by Mr Olamilekan Olusada her Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) urged relevant authorities to ensure gender equity in political and social leaderships.

Akande-Sadipe in the statement to commemorate International Women’s Day women are strategic in every socio-economic development of any nation.

Akande-Sadipe who celebrated the `incredible strength, resilience, and determination of Nigerian women across the globe`, lauded them for making significant contributions to the society.

“In a society that is still dominated by men, we continue to face numerous challenges and obstacles in our personal and professional lives.

“We must not let this discourage us from achieving our goals, we must continue to be optimistic and persistent in pursuing our dreams and aspirations”, she said.

She some measure of discrimination she suffered in politics, adding that it made her a better person and politician.

“I have faced my fair share of adversity. During the just-concluded election, I experienced threats and intimidation from male opposition.

“However, I refused to be cowed and stood strong and fearless. I am grateful for the support of those who stood by me in the face of adversity”, she said.

She applauded women who had continued to fight for equality and justice in their communities.

“As we just celebrated International Women’s Day, I urge all women to support and uplift one another. We must build each other up and help each other succeed.

“We must strive to build our careers and support other women in politics to increase our participation in governance.

“Let us continue to break barriers and shatter stereotypes, proving that women are just as capable as men in all aspects of life.

“Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society where women’s voices are heard, and their contributions are valued”, she said.

She called for symbiotic support among both genders for a progressive society.

According to her we all have a role to play in creating a world where women are valued and respected.

“Let us work together towards that goal. Our collective effort can bring about a better society where women can thrive and contribute to the development of our communities”, she said.
