System analyst docked for allegedly receiving stolen property

A 39-year-old system analyst, Ojo Itunu was Wednesday docked in an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, FCT,  for allegedly receiving stolen property.

The police charged Itunu who lives in Lugbe Abuja with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, theft by servant and receiving stolen property.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Mr Chikezie Ikeotu of Karmo reported the matter at the Iddo police station on May 12.

Tanko said said that the complainant in June 2021 entrusted a Sienna 2005 model vehicle with reg. no ABJ 325 JY worth N1.2 million to Micheal Amos, now at large to use for commercial purpose.

He said that Amos dishonestly sold the car to the defendant for N900,000 and relocated to unknown destination without the consent of the principal.

He said that the car was later tracked and found in possession of the defendant, adding that during police investigation Amos was arrested but later escaped.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of  sections 97,312, 287 and 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Sani Umar, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N900,000 with one surety in like sum whom must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Umar said that the address of the surety must be verified by the court staff and must provide two recent passport photograph.

He ordered that the surety must provide photocopy of valid means of identification.

He adjourned the case until Oct. 12 for hearing. (NAN)
