CHALLENGE Initiative, TCI, a non-governmental organisation, has renovated and equipped four healthcare facilities within 72 hours in Anambra State.

The healthcare facilities are Primary Healthcare, PHC, Okpoko 1, Christ Church Health Post, Onitsha North, Maternal and Child Health, MCH, Ogidi and PHC, Eziowelle.

Inaugurating PHC Okpoko 1 and Christ Church Health Post, Chioma Ezenyimulu, the executive secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ANSPHCP, said TCI were partners in family planning services in the state.

“They selected four healthcare facilities in highly populated areas in the state, which they renovated, equipped and provided the consumables necessary for family planning within 72 hours, known as `72hours makeover’.”

The 72hours makeover started on January 18 and was completed on January 21 for the inauguration.

Ezenyimulu commended the TCI partners for a job well-done at the primary health centres.

“It shows that we can achieve anything we set our minds to attain. I urge all women in the state to always access healthcare in PHCs near them within the state,’’ she said.

The executive secretary extolled other partners in the state such as WHO, UNICEF and FHI360 for their support in ensuring that Anambra people had access to quality healthcare.

She urged them to tow the line of TCI in undertaking to renovate healthcare facilities.

Aneotah Egbeh, the state programme coordinator, TCI, said that TCI was in the state to partner in family planning services.

“We want to create conducive environment for healthcare providers that will enable them to offer basic services to women and children,’’ he said.

Aneotah thanked the Anambra government for providing them the enabling environment for the inauguration of the renovated facilities.

Stella Ekwezor, the state family planning coordinator, said the aim of the project was to provide women with conducive places, where they could have access to family planning services.

“It is the most cost effective method of preventing mortality and morbidity among women and children.’’

Eddy Emezinwa, the president-general, Okpoko Development Union, and Obi Ubaka, the venerable in charge of Christ Church Health Post, praised the State Government and TCI for their initiative.

They promised that the refurbished family planning section would soon be put into use.

Some of the clients, Chinyere Okeke and Anthonia Okpala commended the State government and TCI for providing such a conducive environment for them in their quest for health services in the state.
