ZHOU Pingjian, Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China to Nigeria, has said that he appreciates the efforts made by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, in partnership with Huawei to enhance Information and communications technology, ICT, training in Nigeria.

He said this in a goodwill message at the Closing/Awards Ceremony of the Huawei ICT for Change 1000 Civil Servants Training Programme in Nigeria on Thursday, August 22 in Abuja.

Pingjian noted that civil servants play essential roles in effective and efficient running of government. “With the ever wider spread and application of ICT in our society, civil servants everywhere are confronting more and more ICT-related challenges in formulating and implementing policies.

“Let me express my warm congratulations to the success of the programme and the excellent performance of the 935 Nigerian civil servants drawn from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

“I also wish to express my sincere appreciation to the OSGF for its deep trust in Huawei, an integral part of Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem and a leading ICT giant of the world which we Chinese are very proud of,” he said.

He assured that China remains committed to enhancing exchanges and cooperation between competent authorities of China and Nigeria, sharing good practice in each other’s ICT development, seizing the opportunity presented by the digital economy, encouraging companies to carry out cooperation in ICT infrastructure, the internet and the digital economy, and working together to narrow the digital divide and promote the building of an information society in Nigeria and China.
