THE Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, has announced the “Process Intensification Technology for Green House Gas Emissions Control in Power Generation and Industry for Sustainable Fuel” as the winner of this year’s Prize for Science.

The technology, which was produced by Eni Okoh, Oladijo Otitoju and Prof. Weihang Wang, was selected from 51 other submissions approved by the Prize’s Advisory Board.

This year’s prize focused on Innovation and Science for Reducing Climate Change and will be directly beneficial in reducing the nations carbon footprint.

Announcing the winner of the prize on Monday in Lagos, Prof. Berth Nnaji, Chairman of the Prize’s Advisory Board noted that the prize has been sustained over the years through dedication and integrity.

Andy Odeh, general manager, External Relations and sustainable management of the NLNG, thanked all the stakeholders who have helped in sustaining the prize for 20 years.

According to him, the prize would not have lasted this long without the caliber of persons in the advisory board and the Panel of Judges.

Nike Akande, member of the advisory board, urged the media to continue it’s advocacy about the relevance of the innovation to the nation’s environment and economy.

Recall that in 2023, Professor Hippolite Amadi was announced as the winner of the Science Prize with his Respiratory technologies invented to keep Nigerian new-born babies alive.

The theme for last year focused on “Innovation for Enhancement of Healthcare Therapy”

The Nigerian Prize for Science, NPS, has grown in the last 20 years, to become the biggest prize in Africa and one of the biggest in the world.
