The Ding-Dong Affair in National Assembly

THE All Progressives Congress appears not to know how to get out of its present quagmire in the National Assembly. The crisis in the National Assembly started since June 9, when the leadership election of the legislative arm of the government was held and winners who emerged were not the candidates endorsed by the party hierarchy. The ding-dong affair transcend to verbal war of words which eventually climaxed to the physical free-for-all fight in the House of Representatives.
After the fight, the National Assembly took a long break in the hope that all the bone of contention will be resolved before they resume on July 21. This date came and passed without any resolution of the conflict in sight. Hence, the resumption date was postponed to July 28.
The date is fast approaching and the dissent in the National Assembly is still raging among the APC legislators. Will there be another postponement? Are the legislators going to act more mature when they resume this time around and spare Nigerians any other ugly bickering? Will the winners be more magnanimous in their victory so as not to offend the sensibilities of the losers? And the losers also let bygone be bygone? Answers to these questions and more are what we have served you in the cover story for this week entitled: APC’s National Assembly Brouhaha which was written by Olu Ojewale, our general editor. It is very interesting. Enjoy it.
