Three out of 10 kidnapped FRSC officials rescued

AMIDST gloom pervading the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, arising from the attack by gunmen on its officials, hope rose on Tuesday, September 15, as three out of 10 kidnapped officials were rescued by security operatives, Realnews exclusively reports. Realnews also gathered that FRSC and other security agencies are intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining officials.

Realnews recalls that on Monday, September 14, suspected gunmen attacked FRSC officials killing two and kidnapped 10 others at Wudage junction, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Four others were injured during the attack which occurred when the personnel were travelling in a convoy from Sokoto and Kebbi states to FRSC Udi Training Academy in Enugu State for a training programme.

Confirming the incident in a statement, Bisi Kazeem, public education officer, FRSC, said Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, FRSC, ordered that the incident should be immediately reported to relevant authorities for prompt rescue of the victims, while investigations into the incident have commenced.

“The officers totalling 26 in number were travelling in two buses. One of the officers in the vehicle conveying the staff of the Corps reportedly died during the attack while another officer died in the hospital and four others were injured, eight escaped unhurt, 10 unaccounted for as they were allegedly kidnapped by the assailants,” he said.

According to him, the corps marshal urged the staff not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident, assuring that the abducted officials would be rescued.

He assured that the Corps will work closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that the criminal elements are brought to book and justice is served while the missing personnel are found.
